Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing)

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center located at Fort Hood, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Visually inspect required instruments for cleanliness, damage, and/or deterioration; conduct equipment testing; package surgical items individually or into trays; and document shortages.

Determine proper sterilization procedures; load items and biological quality control tests properly; and operate and clean sterilizers.

Initiate sterile item recall protocol when deficiencies are found in previously sterilized loads (i.e., positive spore notification or discovery of a wet load).

Ensure appropriate climate control measures are maintained; verify expiration dates and rotate stock; and maintain stock levels in sterile supply cabinets.
