Social Worker

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for McDonald Army Health Clinic to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at the multidisciplinary mental health clinic within the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) at Fort Eustis / Newport News, Virginia. The clinic operates in a collaborative, patient-centered, and often fast-paced environment, serving active-duty service members.

Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, including diagnostic impressions, to identify patient needs, strengths, and risk factors.

Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family psychotherapy for a wide range of mental health conditions, such as PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, and adjustment disorders.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team.

Perform crisis intervention, risk assessments (e.g., suicide, homicide, child/elder abuse), and safety planning.

Provide case management services, including referral to appropriate internal and external resources, advocacy, and coordination of care.

Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and program development initiatives.

Provide consultation and education to commanders as well as medical staff regarding psychosocial factors impacting patient health and treatment.
