About the role

Job Summary         

The Plant Scheduling Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement in quality, delivery performance, inventory management, and productivity through effective production planning and Lean Manufacturing principles. This role oversees production scheduling, inventory control, material planning, and cross-functional coordination to ensure customer demand is met efficiently and on time. The Plant Scheduling Manager works closely with Sales, Operations, Production, Purchasing, Accounting, and Inventory Control to maintain schedule adherence and resolve issues that may impact production performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Field Team to process measurements and project information.

Set up multi-family projects within applicable systems to facilitate order processing.

Process and release orders to production for scheduling.

Collaborate with Sales and Operations leadership to develop and maintain master production schedules and demand forecasts.

Establish production schedules for both purchased and manufactured items.

Develop and maintain capacity plans by business unit to support operational goals.

Monitor production performance and identify gaps between actual output and scheduled requirements.

Plan and schedule production and transportation activities to meet forecast demand and customer orders.

Partner with Purchasing and Production teams to expedite materials and resolve supply issues that may impact production schedules.

Evaluate supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and inventory management metrics.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production requirements while minimizing excess inventory.

Develop and manage inventory stock value budgets based on sales demand, operational needs, and supply chain constraints.

Work closely with Production Management and Inventory Control to ensure inventory accuracy and proper inventory classification.

Analyze, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.

Implement inventory control practices that support organizational objectives and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with Accounting, Production, Purchasing, and Sales to ensure alignment of production and purchasing schedules.

Partner with Production Management to implement and maintain shop floor controls that support accurate production, purchasing, and shipping transactions.

Identify and address the needs of Sales, Operations, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders.

Proactively identify and resolve obstacles that may impact schedule attainment, production flow, or customer commitments.

Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity, quality, and delivery performance.

Analyze operational data and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in production planning, manufacturing scheduling, or a related production environment.

Strong understanding of production planning, inventory control, and supply chain processes.

Proficiency with MRP systems, capacity planning tools, Microsoft Excel, and database applications.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Self-motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
