About the role
Oversee and support forklift drivers and unitizers on product movement and unitizing. Will cover down on absences and vacations, loading and unloading of product, banding, and dunnage placement. Cross-train employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklift
- Safety checks for forklift drivers, including: glasses, ear plugs, fork truck seatbelts, dock locks, trailer chalks
- Follow all safety standards
- Complete daily equipment checklists
- Report any equipment maintenance issues
- Organize forklift driver daily task
- Follow load plan and loading instructions
- Verify accuracy of trailer reports and load plans
- Scan units, bays, and trailers as required
- Check status of outgoing orders and load plans
- Locate orders/units on items that cannot be found
- Pallet inventory
- Verify accuracy of forklift drivers loading of trailers
- Organize and complete cycle counts on finished goods during the month
- Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that arise during the shift
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws..
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- All other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a team
- Prior work in the corrugated industry preferred
Work Requirements
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent communication skills. Able to read and interpret documents such as bill of ladings, packing slips, training and procedure manuals. Ability to write shipping reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, and volumes.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Computer literate (MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel), data entry skills. Application knowledge of products and production processes. Quality standards – both ISO and QS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is regularly exposed to moving equipment in the work area. The employee is sometimes exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, along with hot and cold temperatures depending upon the season. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
