We are seeking a Maintenance Planner for our First Quality Tissue location in Lock Haven, PA.
Job Function:
Responsible for providing improvements in maintenance work force effectiveness by eliminating potential for delays and obstacles through proper planning, being the facilitator for the maintenance planning meetings on a weekly basis, plans, and maintains documentation for repairs, teams with operations and maintenance supervisors on identification, coordination, and execution of maintenance work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Follow the Maintenance Work Process: identify and screen work orders, confirm they are accurate and complete, and give feedback to Operations and Maintenance on finished work.
- Inspect the job site to confirm scope, trade, staffing, and whether the work can be done on the run or needs a shutdown. Challenge priority when equipment status or production needs require it.
- Build planned work packages for new and repeat jobs. Include parts, procedures, drawings, risk assessments, tooling, lockout and confined-space steps, history, labor estimates, and any safety or environmental concerns. Flag conflicts such as crane, lift, or overlapping work.
- Keep preventive, predictive, basic-care, compliance, and safety routes ready to schedule. Review overdue PM and outage-prep backlog, publish a weekly forecast of work ready for the next week, and tell Operations and Maintenance when status changes.
- Facilitate the weekly planning meeting and join non-outage scheduling meetings. Decide when indirect work procedures apply, and remove duplicate or unnecessary work orders.
- Order and stage materials. Contact vendors, write purchase requisitions with the right description, cost center, and vendor, and use pick tickets so storeroom parts reach the job before work starts. Track deliveries, move orders from Awaiting Parts to Ready to Schedule, and return unused parts.
- Keep critical spares available, recommend new stock items, and help locate parts when needed.
- Coordinate contractors and service representatives: define scope, obtain competitive bids when required, complete contractor training and job documentation.
- Maintain the CMMS: enter history on completed work, audit and close work orders, and add or update equipment records for installs, demolitions, and removals. Train others on the system.
- Spot repeat failures from work history and tell Maintenance Supervisors and Operations. Lead or support root-cause investigations and preserve physical evidence.
- Support lubrication planning, shop housekeeping, and the budgeting process for equipment and facility repairs. Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of conditions that need maintenance.
- Cover for the supervisor when absent, including off-shift, weekend, and on-call rotation, and fill in as Outage Coordinator for the assigned asset.
- Model First Quality safety and handbook standards and the FQT Rules of Engagement, and support supervisors, engineers, and other teams as needed.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- About five years in a maintenance role, preferably in the papermaking process.
- Working knowledge of the site CMMS, or equivalent experience with another system.
- Strong organization and time management, plus intermediate computer and logic skills.
- Above-average troubleshooting and an analytical approach.
- Leadership shown through accountability, credibility, and trust, with clear interpersonal communication.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing safety regulations.
