Garnishment & Leave Specialist

Optalis Health & Rehabilitation | Corporate Team

Are you the person who catches the detail everyone else missed—and makes a complicated process easier for employees to understand? Optalis Health & Rehabilitation is looking for a Garnishment & Leave Specialist to join our corporate HR and Payroll team.

In this role, you’ll manage time-sensitive wage orders and help coordinate employee leaves across our facilities. Your accuracy, follow-through, and compassion will make a direct difference for employees during important moments in their lives.

What you’ll do

  • Review and process child support orders, tax levies, creditor garnishments, and other required payroll deductions accurately and on time.

  • Interpret orders and notices, track deadlines, maintain records, and coordinate responses with the appropriate agencies or parties.

  • Partner with Payroll to verify deductions, resolve discrepancies, and address employee questions.

  • Coordinate FMLA, medical, personal, military, and other applicable leaves of absence, including required documentation and follow-up.

  • Work with employees, facility HR teams, managers, Benefits, and third-party administrators to keep leave information accurate and current.

  • Maintain organized trackers and confidential records for garnishments and leaves.

  • Identify issues early, research solutions, and escalate complex matters when needed.

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, including when the subject is sensitive or stressful.

What you bring

  • Minimum 3 years' experience with payroll garnishments, leave administration, HR, payroll, or a closely related role.

  • The ability to read legal orders and notices carefully, follow detailed procedures, and meet firm deadlines.

  • Strong Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and maintaining tracking spreadsheets.

  • Excellent organization and accuracy when managing a high volume of work.

  • Sound judgment with confidential employee information.

  • A helpful, professional communication style and the ability to work across multiple teams.

  • Must be able to travel to Novi, MI at least two times per week. 

Experience supporting a multi-location workforce or working in healthcare is a plus.
