About the role
We are seeking an experienced Radiology Imaging Applications Manager to lead a team supporting mission-critical clinical imaging applications within a large health system. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity requiring a strong combination of people leadership, imaging informatics expertise, and technical understanding of enterprise imaging environments.
Contract to Hire
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid on-site)
Pay: $90-100/hour
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Clinical Applications and Imaging IT analysts.
- Partner with IT and departmental leadership on strategic planning, team priorities, processes, and objectives.
- Oversee support and service delivery for enterprise imaging applications, including PACS, VNA, Epic Radiant, diagnostic and enterprise clinical viewers, voice recognition, and imaging post-processing systems.
- Provide leadership across imaging workflows and technologies involving DICOM, HL7, networking, interfaces, and image storage/distribution.
- Manage and develop technical staff, including coaching, performance management, workload prioritization, and professional development.
- Support project delivery, change management, application portfolio management, and ongoing technology/infrastructure initiatives.
- Partner across clinical, technical, and operational teams to develop patient-centric imaging solutions.
- Maintain strong ITIL and SDLC practices across the team.
- Participate in after-hours/on-call coverage as required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing technical staff.
- Strong experience within Imaging IT, radiology applications, PACS, VNA, or enterprise imaging environments.
- Working knowledge of DICOM and HL7.
- Experience managing a software/application support team in a complex healthcare environment.
- Understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including routing, firewalls, load balancers, and network security.
- Experience leading change management initiatives across multiple teams or departments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Radiant and/or Bridges certification.
- Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP).
- Experience with HL7 FHIR and DICOMweb.
- ARRT or other clinical license.
- Advanced degree.
