The role. We're hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to build our safety program and own it. Our floor runs saws, forklifts, and heavy aluminum across multiple shifts, and every person on it should go home the same way they came in. You will design the EHS program from the ground up, train the shift leads who run it on the floor, and keep the site audit-ready every day.

Part of your week is on the floor: walking every shift, running hazard assessments, and investigating incidents to closure. The other part is building: the written programs, training, and records that hold up to MIOSHA, our customers, and an auditor. You report to the Head of People Operations.

Shift hours:

Monday through Friday, with flexibility to cover second and weekend shifts as needed

You will:

· Design and build the EHS program from the ground up, with support from People Operations

· Own OSHA and MIOSHA compliance: recordkeeping, reporting, permits, and written programs, and keep the site audit-ready every day

· Run hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and incident investigations, and track every corrective action to closure

· Own PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and forklift and crane safety

· Train shift leads to handle incident reporting and stop-work on the floor, so the basics run without you

· Lead new-hire safety orientation and refresher training, and track who is trained and certified on what

· Manage environmental compliance: waste, chemicals, SDS, and any permits the site needs

· Work with operations and our software team on engineering controls when a safety issue traces back to process or equipment

· Track near misses, recordables, and training completion, and report the numbers to leadership

· Talk to the people doing the work, look at every process, and make it safer

You are:

· Experienced, with 7+ years in EHS in a manufacturing or industrial setting

· A builder: you have designed and launched EHS programs, not just maintained them

· Educated, with a bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field

· Fluent in OSHA and MIOSHA standards, and comfortable being the person an inspector asks for

· Comfortable on the floor: you can talk to an operator and write it up in a way that holds up later

· A clear teacher who can make a lockout procedure stick with a new hire in their first week

· Firm: you hold the line with a shift lead who wants to skip a step

· Not afraid to work outside normal hours when something happens on second shift

· Never says "that's not my job"

Nice to have:

· Metals or machining manufacturing background

· OSHA 30, OSHA 500 trainer authorization, CSP, or equivalent certification

· Experience working in an ITAR or DFARS environment

· Experience building a safety program at a startup or a new site

· Workers' compensation claims and return-to-work experience

· Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

Pay and benefits:

· $90,000 to $110,000 salary, based on experience
