This posting is a job family. There are two levels.
Level I
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for prompt and accurate processing of members’ loan and new account applications by telephone or the Internet.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Handles calls in reference to pending loan and new account applications, account changes and loan approvals/denials.
- Verifies accuracy of loan application, scoring tools and ratios before completing each loan request.
- Checks and examines loans for completeness and accuracy, verifies that all screens on loan origination system are complete for funding.
- Scrutinizes all work received and uses judgement in identifying and potential problems or errors.
- Assists in handling the overflow of calls and processing of loan requests.
- Prepares loan requests for resubmission to the department supervisor or Loan Review Committee for loan decision appeals. Prepares instructions for the completion of the loan or new account.
- Advises members of loan and new account decisions and schedules appointment for loan completion. Processes all approved loan documentation, letter and title work quickly and accurately.
- Explains to members and prospective members the philosophy, purpose, objectives and policies as they relate to the services of the credit union.
- Creates opportunities to sell all credit union products and services to members with special emphasis on promotions and new services.
- Emphasizes credit life and disability insurance to benefit both the members and the credit union.
- Remote print paperwork to designated branch and assist with branch completions.
- Proficient in the use of electronic signature software.
- Verifies drafting instructions for out of town deals.
- Receives incoming mail, reviews all documents for proper signatures and checks for other information and titles as needed.
- Assists members at loan completion counter as needed.
- Verifies income when proof of income is required as a condition of the loan decision.
- Sets up new loan applications, call back, process, mail or appointment.
- Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
- Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient knowledge of credit union services, with emphasis in consumer and mortgage lending products as well as depository accounts to include Individual Retirement Accounts, checking and share accounts and Certificate of Deposit accounts.
- Understanding of loan guidelines and ability to calculate DR, NDI, TUA and TUR.
- Knowledge of current interest rates and all loan documents pertaining to open end and closed end loans.
- Knowledge of the market value and methods of appraising all types of collateral and ability to analyze income and financial statements. Proficient knowledge of perfecting liens in all states.
- Knowledge associated with any type of security pledged on loans, i.e., title documents, fees and federal and state laws.
- Thorough knowledge of the loan and new account system. Extensive knowledge of loan set-up.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge of accessing the Credit Bureau terminal for local and out of country credit reports.
- Knowledge of personal computer and software used in department, quick with numbers.
- High School diploma or equivalent with 6 months to 2 years of similar or related experience.
- Requires sitting the majority of the day, lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, twisting and kneeling occasionally, reaching above shoulder level frequently, reaching below shoulder level continuously.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Providing quality service is the primary responsibility of this position. Quality service means treating members and coworkers with respect and courtesy at all levels whether in person or by telephone as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Availability Requirements: Monday- Friday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
Position is Hybrid - Local WFH and onsite; Rotating schedule during these hours to meet membership and department needs.
