Nurse (Patient Safety)

About the Position: This position is located at the 59th Medical Wing Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal Service.

Develop, plan, coordinate, implement, and manage the Patient Safety Program.

Maintain the patient safety database.

Advise and forward to Risk Management those incidents requiring standard of care determinations or potential compensable events (PCEs) and make recommendations on further action if needed.

Provide expertise and guidance to staff members in the areas of risk assessment, prospective risk analysis, aggregate analysis, root cause analysis, and development and evaluation of action plans.

Work with the governing board to formulate new policies and procedures specific to patient safety.

Work with risk manager in identifying, investigating, compiling information, and reporting sentinel events.
