About the role
General Purpose: To monitor and manage equipment, employees, plants, daily dispatch schedule, and producer needs in the pickup and delivery of milk ensuring that all involved are given proper information to successfully complete their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors route volume and tickets to keep loads full and determine most efficient routing
- Monitors delivery plants and updates Plant Issue tracking file
- Monitors daily the DFA GPS tracking of trucks, drivers and routes
- Assigns trailers on schedules to minimize CIP needs, coordinates with other areas to do same
- First point of contact for Milk Haulers and job assignments
- Addresses unscheduled producer requests by assigning available drivers
- Resolves issues that arise to ensure timely pickup and delivery of milk to processing plants
- Drives trucks as needed—overload, vacations, leave time, etc.
- Manages truck movement/pushes trucks at plant
- Resolves payroll and time keeping questions per request
- Maintains proper chain of custody for daily paperwork
- Promotes a safety conscious work environment
- Represents DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with producers, customers, or regulatory personnel
- Any other duties assigned by supervision
Bulk Tank Driving Responsibilities:
- Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
- Operates a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
- Follows designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
Certified Milk Hauler/Sampler Responsibilities:
- Milk Hauler/Sampler License (issued by state health department)
- Transfers raw milk from farm containers to trailer
- Takes quality and control samples at farm
- Measures milk loaded into trailer
- Maintains positive communications with producers, listens for issues or potential problems, reports producers' comments to transportation and member services management
Open to internal applicants only. Wage will be $1.00 more per hour than current hourly rate. One Night Shift Opening, tentative start of shift is 4pm.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have a current CDL (Class A) in state of residence. Must have, or be able to obtain, a tanker endorsement.
- Must have at least 1 year of tractor/trailer experience to be considered. 2 years of tractor/trailer experience within the last 5 years is preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must meet all DOT requirements.
- Must be able to work weekends and Holidays.
