Utility Systems Repairer - Operator
About the role
You will serve as a Utility Systems Repairer - Operator with the National Park Service.
Major Duties include: Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment such as electrical wires and circuits. Install, diagnose, and make repairs on commercial and residential air conditioning systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering and circulation. Install , modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and sewage systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, sprinklers, and showers, sinks, faucets, etc. For more information about Great Smoky Mountains National Park, please visit: Great Smoky Mountains National Park (U.S. National Park Service).
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. May be required to maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to operate government vehicles. Must have a current Universal EPA Certification-HVAC/Generac Generator Technician and Installer Certification at time of application.
