About the role

The VA St. Louis Healthcare System (VASTLHCS) is seeking a Maintenance Worker for the Facilities Engineering Service. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance and repair requirements as established by the Maintenance and Operations Leadership.

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Electrical Performs a variety of minor electrical repair and maintenance work to buildings and facilities. Installs or replaces items such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, and circuit breakers. Carpentry/Locksmithing Constructing, installing, repairing, or modifying items and on occasion assembling/repairing prefabricated structures. Conducts routine maintenance, overhaul and repair of standard types of mechanical locking devices. Plumbing/Pipefitting Assists mechanics with a variety of duties involved in the installation, modifying, maintenance, and repair of new and existing pressure steam systems. Replaces broken valves, pipes, and other items as needed. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Performs non-complex repairs and maintenance to air conditioning and refrigeration systems and components. Provides preventative maintenance and repairs by servicing equipment, changing filters, and cleaning coils. General Maintenance Works on general repairs, maintenance, adjustments, modifications, inspections and preventative maintenance. Promotion Potential: This position is for WG-8. There is no promotion potential for this position. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Permanent - Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Worker/PD657-09962A Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not Approved Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Duty Station: Jefferson Barracks Division; however, the duty station may be changed to one of multiple locations within the VA St. Louis Health Care System based on the needs of the facility.
