About the role

Area Team Leader (ATL)

Provide direct leadership and operational oversight for a designated production area within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Serve as the frontline execution leader responsible for safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and workforce performance while aligning daily operations with plant-level objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

Operational Performance & Production Execution

  • Lead day-to-day production activities to ensure attainment of throughput, efficiency, scrap, and downtime targets.
  • Monitor KPIs such as OEE, yield, labor utilization, and cycle time; analyze performance gaps and suggest corrective action plans to management.
  • Drive adherence to production schedules while maintaining flexibility to meet shifting inyternal demands

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Champion a safety-first culture by enforcing OSHA standards, plant safety protocols, and GMP requirements where applicable.
  • Conduct safety observations, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-ups to reduce workplace risk.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Quality Assurance & Process Control

  • Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and quality control procedures.
  • Partner with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve defects, reduce rework, and improve process reliability.
  • Works with supervisor root cause analysis initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Team Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate hourly production employees within assigned area.
  • Conduct performance reviews (in conjunction with the supervisor), disciplinary actions (in conjunction with the supervisor), and recognition initiatives in alignment with HR policies.
  • Train and cross-train staff to enhance flexibility, reduce skill gaps, and build bench strength.
  • Foster employee engagement and accountability within a union or non-union environment.

Lean & Continuous Improvement

  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, waste reduction, visual management, and standard work implementation.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and lead process improvement efforts to increase capacity and reduce cost.
  • Participate in plant-wide improvement projects aligned with operational excellence goals.

Leadership Communication & Alignment

  • Act as the primary communication link between plant leadership and frontline employees.
  • Translate production goals into actionable team objectives and provide feedback to management regarding operational challenges and workforce concerns.
