About the role

The Director, Marketing - Channel Commerce & Distribution Operations is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping how Health Learning & Practice products reach customers across ecommerce, retail, reseller, marketplace, institutional and digital distribution Channels.


As the Director, Marketing - Channel Commerce & Distribution Operations you will lead the strategy, governance, and operational execution of Health Learning & Practice's commerce ecosystem, spanning direct-to-consumer ecommerce, institutional commerce, retail and reseller partnerships, digital distribution programs, channel analytics, forecasting, pricing governance, and commercial operations. You will serve as the business owner for critical revenue channels and provides leadership and direction across partner management, commerce technology, financial planning, customer experience, fulfillment strategy, and growth initiatives that collectively support the Health Learning & Practice LP commercial business in Wolters Kluwer Health


In this role, you will partner closely across Product Management & Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Technology, Customer Experience (including service, support, fulfillment) and with external channel partners to manage key commercial relationships, partner governance, commercial terms, accounts receivables and operational execution to ensure Health Learning & Practice products are discoverable, accessible, and optimized for growth across the channels. As a part of this, you will balance commercial opportunity with disciplined financial and operational management.

What you will do 

Lead channel strategy and growth

  • Develop and execute growth strategies across ecommerce, retail, reseller, marketplace, institutional, and digital distribution channels.
  • Evaluate channel performance, profitability, customer demand, and market opportunity to guide investment and portfolio decisions.
  • Lead the evolution of distribution models, marketplace expansion, pricing governance, channel discounting, and go-to-market optimization.
  • Build joint business plans with strategic partners and establish clear performance expectations, operating rhythms, and accountability.

Own ecommerce and digital distribution

  • Lead the business strategy and performance of the company’s direct-to-consumer and institutional ecommerce channels.
  • Improve conversion, merchandising, product discoverability, customer journeys, search performance, and digital fulfillment.
  • Define and prioritize the ecommerce platform roadmap in partnership with Technology and other business stakeholders.
  • Develop business cases and return-on-investment assessments for commerce technologies, platform enhancements, and external vendors.

Strengthen commercial and operational performance

  • Partner with Finance to develop revenue forecasts, annual plans, long-range plans, operating budgets, investment priorities, and scenario analyses.
  • Establish channel performance indicators and executive dashboards covering revenue, adoption, sell-through, inventory, profitability, and other leading indicators.
  • Manage partner commercial terms, contracts, pricing programs, receivables exposure, payment terms, and operational performance.
  • Work across Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and channel partners to manage inventory, seasonal demand, returns, collections, and supply risks.
  • Oversee marketplace brand-protection and anti-piracy programs to help protect intellectual property, revenue, and channel integrity.

Lead product information and commerce operations

  • Establish governance for product information, metadata, catalog quality, content syndication, product discoverability, and channel feed management.
  • Improve product data for ecommerce, marketplace, AI-enabled search, and digital merchandising.
  • Lead and develop a team supporting channel operations, partner management, ecommerce, digital distribution, marketplace programs, and related contractor resources.
  • Create operating plans, performance measures, and reporting that provide leadership with clear visibility into results, risks, and growth opportunities. 

What you’ll Bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, operations, commerce, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Significant leadership experience in channel management, ecommerce, distribution, marketplace operations, commercial operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success developing channel strategies that improve revenue growth, profitability, customer reach, or operating performance.
  • Experience managing commercial relationships with retailers, resellers, marketplaces, distributors, or digital content partners.
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce platforms, product information management, digital distribution, commercial terms, pricing, and channel economics.
  • Experience using financial analysis, forecasting, performance metrics, and business cases to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders across Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Technology, Customer Experience, and Supply Chain.
  • Strong people-leadership capabilities, including setting priorities, building accountability, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Amazon or other large digital marketplaces.
  • Experience with educational content, healthcare information, publishing, software, digital products, or another content-driven industry.
  • Familiarity with product information management systems, ecommerce integrations, digital fulfillment, and marketplace brand protection.
  • Experience leading commerce or distribution transformation initiatives in a complex, matrixed organization

Compensation:

$151,700.00 - $270,950.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.

Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position.  Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
