About the role

Position Purpose:

The Finance Applications Information Technology (IT) Project Leader leads the evaluation, implementation, enhancement, and support of finance applications and related technologies while serving as both a functional and technical subject matter expert. This role delivers technology solutions that improve financial processes, reporting, automation, and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the functional and technical subject matter expert for company finance applications.
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, enhancement, support, and optimization of finance systems to align with business and operational objectives.
  • Identify and recommend technology solutions that improve financial processes, reporting, controls, automation, and decision-making.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, business leaders, and vendors to understand requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver effective technology solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex business process and application issues.
  • Lead finance application projects, including implementations, upgrades, integrations, acquisitions, and transformation initiatives.
  • Develop project plans, manage risks, oversee resources, and ensure successful delivery of projects on time and within scope.
  • Coach and direct project team members, consultants, and other resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Lead solution architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and support activities in accordance with software development life cycle (SDLC) and enterprise standards.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable application and integration solutions.
  • Evaluate and oversee implementation of third-party software, system enhancements, and application upgrades.
  • Provide leadership for production support, issue resolution, root cause analysis, and ongoing application maintenance.
  • Monitor application performance and drive continuous improvement through process optimization, standardization, and automation.
  • Ensure solutions support compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, training materials, and support procedures.
  • Lead change management, user training, and knowledge transfer activities to support successful adoption of system solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, finance, or a related field is required.
  • An advanced degree in a technology, business, or finance related field is preferred.
  • Project management, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS), or related professional certifications are desirable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 9 years’ experience in a related role is required.
  • Ability to travel as needed up to 25% of the time.
  • Strong knowledge of finance business processes and manufacturing operations is essential.
  • Experience leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations, upgrades, integrations, and other complex application projects is required.
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies, application architecture, system integrations, testing, deployment, and support is necessary.
  • Strong project leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization, are required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions and drive continuous improvement initiatives is required.
  • Ability to be self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, professionalism, and accountability is important.
