Accounting Associate

Schedule: 

Monday - Friday

8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (subject to change)

Saturday and Sunday Off 

General Purpose: Perform a variety of complex clerical and entry level bookkeeping and accounting tasks. Apply accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records. Prepare financial, statistical, and/or technical reports.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare daily production spreadsheets in system
• Answer phone and directs calls
• Prepare weekly production yields and associated reports
• Assist auditors with audits
• File and maintain clerical records and reports pertinent to accounting and booking or technical operations
• Assign account numbers to invoices for proper distribution
• Supply customers with customer specific inventory/usage- receipt information
• Work with inventory control to maintain consistent inventory and monitor usages/receipts and cycle count activity
• Assist Purchasing Specialist with processing purchase orders and accounts payables
• Serve as a backup to Payroll
• Process monthly milk billing
• Follow all DFA GMPs and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
• Identify, recommend improvements, and automate accounting functions in SAP and offline processes. Document findings, areas for improvement, and procedures. Provide support to plant personnel on all SAP financial accounting issues
• Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
• Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
• Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
• Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
• Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
• Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
• Responsible for monitoring and taking corrective actions when necessary for a critical control point as part of the plant HACCP plan
• Ensure that all documentation is done correctly and turned in promptly

Pay

• Competitive pay - $24.34 to $27.42 per hour based on experience
• Rate includes $1.00 shift differential for hours worked between 6 PM and 6 AM

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate’s Degree in Accounting preferred
• Previous experience in accounting environment preferred
• May be required to obtain and maintain certifications and/or licenses in the future

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of company computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and SAP
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Able to multi-task and problem solve
• Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Able to effectively analyze and interpret data
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English
