Responsibility

Summary:

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Leader, and/or Staff RN—and in accordance with approved policies and procedures—the Nursing Assistant provides essential support in delivering safe, quality care to patients. This role performs various direct patient care activities to address personal needs and ensure patient comfort, while also participating in non-clinical responsibilities that support the overall functioning of the nursing unit. These include time management, organizational tasks, basic computer use, and effective communication to ensure the smooth operation of the nursing station.

The Nursing Assistant serves as a resource for patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff, promoting positive relationships between the unit and other departments. As a team member, they actively participate in unit-based activities and provide support to the multidisciplinary team. The individual in this role is expected to uphold patient confidentiality, demonstrate professionalism, and maintain current knowledge through continuing education, in-service training, and department competencies.

Education:

Minimum:  High School graduate or equivalent

Preferred:

License/

Certifications:

Certification: BLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation. CPI certification obtained within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

Minimum:  1-year customer service experience

Preferred: Experience in a hospital or healthcare facility
