Quality Assurance Specialist

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned and operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813.

Evaluates the effectiveness of Watervliet Arsenal's (WVA) Quality Management System (QMS) and its ability to meet and sustain the requirements of Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification.

Monitors administrative, production control, manufacturing, metal processing, logistics, and other functions within the Watervliet Arsenal and outside agencies impacting operations to assess compliance with the ISO standard.

Reviews documents and records such as customer contracts, technical data packages, engineering quality assurance provisions, and quality control documents such as routings.

Writes audit reports to include observations and Corrective Action Requests (CAR).

Updates Quality Management System stakeholders, management, and/or workforce to maintain an organizational level of awareness regarding ISO requirements.

Collaborate with other process improvement specialists to improve Watervliet Arsenal processes.

Serves as POC for external Quality Deficiency Reports and processes in accordance with established procedures.
