This position will work in a shared service capacity supporting both SDG&E and SoCalGas.

Career Level: L5

Primary Purpose:
Sets department strategy that shapes market perception and differentiates the organization, governing brand architecture and major partnerships. Steers communications through pivotal moments and invests in capabilities that sustain competitive advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads department-level communications strategy that shapes market perceptions and differentiates the organization.
  • Establishes brand architecture frameworks and governs portfolio relationships to maximize equity.
  • Orchestrates major sponsorships, partnerships, and media initiatives to elevate brand presence.
  • Transforms the advertising and marketing function through capability building, organization design, and platform investments.
  • Builds influential relationships with industry leaders and strategic partners to enhance authority.
  • Directs external, customer communication strategies for pivotal moments and high-impact initiatives.
  • Sets forward-looking strategies that anticipate consumer expectations and technology evolution.
  • Counsels executive leadership on reputation management and narrative risk.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a 4 year degree.
  • Typically requires 12 years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to define communications strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
  • Ability to lead large, multi-layered organizations or agencies.
  • Ability to make decisions with significant brand and business impact.
  • Broad knowledge of advertising, branding, and communications governance.
  • Knowledge of financial, reputational, and regulatory considerations.
  • Skill in directing resolution of complex, high-impact brand challenges.
  • Skill in negotiating tradeoffs across functions or markets.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in overseeing complex customer communication strategy.
