About the role

ABOUT onX

We’re a team of builders, adventurers, and risk takers using technology to help people confidently explore the outdoors. Driven by our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone, we build products that optimize every outdoor experience and inspire confidence to get out and go further.

We’re a high-growth tech company. The pace is fast, the work takes grit, and ambiguity is part of the job. As the world changes around us, we adapt - continuously evolving how we build, prioritize, and deliver.

Our business moves quickly, and there’s real opportunity to shape what we build next. Each of our verticals - Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, and Fish - is at a different stage of maturity, which means the challenges you encounter and the impact you have will vary depending on where you sit and what the business needs most.

We operate with an experimentation mindset, continually iterating and improving how we solve problems. We expect our people to use the latest tooling, including AI, thoughtfully and responsibly, pairing human judgment with technology to increase quality, speed, and impact.

Our impact comes to life through the products we build, in the stories of our customers, and in our growing commitment to land stewardship and recreational access.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We're hiring a Recruiter / Sourcer (6-Month Fixed-Term) to help our Talent Acquisition team meet increased hiring demand. We're looking for an experienced, resourceful recruiting professional who can step in quickly, independently drive recruiting work forward, and deliver results across both full-cycle recruiting and proactive sourcing.

In this hybrid role, you'll flex between independently managing assigned searches from intake through accepted offer and partnering with other recruiters to drive sourcing and recruiting workstreams for priority openings. Whether you're owning a requisition or contributing to another recruiter's search, you'll have the autonomy to determine effective approaches, make informed decisions, and take accountability for delivering strong candidate pipelines and maintaining hiring momentum.

This is a six-month opportunity for someone who thrives on finding great talent, brings creativity and persistence to sourcing, and can confidently navigate competing priorities and recruiting challenges. You'll collaborate closely with hiring managers and recruiting teammates, using sound judgment and practical problem-solving to deliver high-quality results without sacrificing the candidate experience.

This is a remote position requiring candidates to reside within an eligible onX Basecamp region in the Pacific or Mountain time zones.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Essential Job Duties & Functions

Build and Engage High-Quality Talent Pipelines

  • Independently develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned searches, using hiring context, market insights, and sound judgment to identify relevant talent pools and engage qualified candidates.
  • Proactively identify and engage passive candidates through creative sourcing methods, targeted outreach, referrals, and persistent follow-through rather than relying primarily on inbound applicants.
  • Take ownership of pipeline development for assigned searches, evaluating candidate quality, identifying gaps, and adjusting sourcing approaches to improve results.
  • Conduct candidate conversations to assess relevant qualifications, motivations, and alignment with role requirements, using sound judgment to recommend candidates for consideration.

Own Recruiting Workstreams and Drive Hiring Outcomes

  • Independently manage assigned requisitions through the full recruiting lifecycle, from intake and candidate sourcing through interviews, selection, and offer acceptance.
  • Partner with other recruiters to independently own sourcing and other defined recruiting workstreams for priority searches, applying judgment and driving results without requiring day-to-day direction.
  • Balance ownership of multiple requisitions with sourcing, screening, coordination, and other recruiting responsibilities across additional searches, adapting priorities to meet hiring needs.
  • Proactively identify and resolve recruiting challenges, including pipeline gaps, unclear requirements, scheduling complexities, and process bottlenecks, escalating when broader decisions or stakeholder alignment are needed.
  • Make thoughtful decisions within assigned recruiting workstreams, balancing hiring urgency, candidate quality, stakeholder needs, and the candidate experience.

Partner with Hiring Managers and the Talent Acquisition Team

  • Partner with hiring managers and recruiters to clarify role requirements, understand hiring priorities, and establish effective recruiting approaches.
  • Share talent market insights, pipeline data, and candidate feedback to help hiring teams make informed decisions and adjust recruiting approaches when needed.
  • Navigate differing perspectives constructively, asking thoughtful questions and challenging assumptions when necessary to maintain alignment and hiring momentum.
  • Communicate proactively with candidates and hiring teams, managing expectations, coordinating next steps, and maintaining a consistent, high-quality recruiting experience.

Use Tools, Data, and AI to Improve Effectiveness

  • Use modern applicant tracking systems, sourcing tools, and market research to manage recruiting workflows, maintain accurate candidate information, and support effective recruiting decisions.
  • Apply AI tools to improve candidate research, sourcing, outreach, and recruiting efficiency while exercising judgment and validating outputs.
  • Monitor recruiting activity and pipeline performance to identify challenges, evaluate effectiveness, and adjust approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sourcing techniques, workflows, or candidate engagement, and collaborate with teammates to implement practical solutions.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

  • Duration: This is a six-month, fixed-term position expected to begin as soon as possible, with an anticipated start date before the end of 2026. The assignment will conclude approximately six months after the start date.
  • Weekly Hours: This is a full-time, salaried position based on a 40-hour workweek.
  • Assignment Completion Bonus: Upon successful completion of the full six-month assignment, this position is eligible for an assignment completion bonus.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including successful in-house recruiting experience at a company that develops software or hardware products.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting for technical and product-focused roles, including software engineering, product management, or hardware engineering, with the ability to independently assess candidate qualifications and advise hiring teams.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and engage hard-to-find talent through creative sourcing strategies, targeted outreach, and persistent candidate engagement, building qualified pipelines rather than relying primarily on inbound applicants.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple full-cycle requisitions (typically 2–4) while simultaneously owning sourcing, candidate screening, interview coordination, and other recruiting deliverables for additional searches.
  • Experience independently developing and adapting sourcing approaches based on hiring requirements, talent market insights, candidate quality, and pipeline performance.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience identifying recruiting challenges, evaluating options, and taking action to maintain hiring progress without requiring day-to-day direction.
  • Experience partnering directly with hiring managers to clarify requirements, provide market and candidate insights, and recommend adjustments to recruiting approaches.
  • Hands-on experience using a modern applicant tracking system, such as Greenhouse or Ashby, to manage recruiting workflows, maintain accurate pipeline data, and support hiring decisions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, communicate proactively, and maintain a high-quality candidate and hiring-manager experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to improve sourcing, research, or recruiting workflows, with sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
  • Must reside within an eligible onX Basecamp region in the Pacific or Mountain time zones.
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX's Company Values.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience recruiting across multiple technical and product disciplines, including software engineering, product management, design, and technical marketing.
