Position:             Director of Finance
Department:       Finance
Job Summary:

Provides leadership in the direction, administration, and oversight of the Finance Division.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  • Leads assigned functional areas of Finance which may include areas such as Accounting, Cage, Drop and Purchasing.
  • Develops financial reports for all departments as well as monthly financial statements. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the reports and the process.
  • Plans, develops, recommends, and implements accounting procedures and systems to ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Advises senior executives on financial matters: summarizes and forecasts business activity and the financial position of income and expenses; recommends options to optimize investments of financial capital.
  • Coordinates and manages the annual budget process.
  • Issues timely and accurate financial reports to senior executives and regulatory agencies.
  • Provides oversight and leadership for the Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounts Receivable functions in compliance with established policies.
  • Schedules and analyzes the compilation, verification, and review of statistical accounting and financial reports for areas of the Gaming Enterprise Division (GED).
  • Assures protection of business assets through internal controls, internal auditing, and proper insurance coverage.
  • Establishes operational and administrative policies for the effective conduct of comprehensive financial and regulatory audits.
  • Directs the preparation and reconciliation of the general ledger; initiates any actions necessary to implement sound accounting principles in the recording and reporting of transactions.
  • Recommends, implements, and monitors compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements; ensures corrective action is taken, as needed.
  • Functions as a liaison between all regulatory agencies and the GED on financial matters.
  • Establishes and maintains sound relationships with key vendors, including financial institutions, audit firms, and insurance companies.
  • Provides finance-related assistance to management staff to ensure floor operations are run in a smooth, efficient manner and that guest service standards are consistently applied throughout the operation.
  • Assists with decision-making on staffing levels and adjustments based on business levels and conditions; assists in establishing and maintaining product pricing policies.
  • Supervises and develops direct reports by mentoring, coaching, and providing timely performance feedback as well as taking corrective action as deemed necessary; works collaboratively with them to design professional development plans that support their continuous learning.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels of qualified talent in the Finance Division; makes recommendations for hire.
  • Ensures team members receive on-going training.
  • Keeps abreast of related regulations impacting the GED.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential functions of the position:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport materials, items, and/or equipment frequently up to twenty-five (25) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general accounting practices and principles and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of gaming industry operations and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Skill in in strategic planning, forecasting, and proforma.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills as well as communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex business/financial data, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and create financial reports.
  • Ability to communicate numerical data clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to influence others and build solid working relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting AND ten (10) years demonstrated experience in a senior level Finance management position in the gaming industry.
  • Computer proficiency with accounting software as well as Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a valid gaming license/background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Master’s in Business Administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior level Finance management position in the hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrated financial experience in a gaming and hospitality enterprise of over 1,000 FTE and/or $100M revenue.
