Job Summary
The Concrete Paving Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of concrete paving operations for heavy civil projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves direct supervision of crews, equipment, and materials on job sites. This role requires frequent travel throughout Texas, including Central, West, and South Texas, with additional travel to other locations as needed to support business operations. Primary location for this role would be the Waco, TX area.
Job Responsibilities
* Plan, direct, and coordinate daily concrete paving activities on heavy civil construction projects.
* Supervise, mentor, and train paving crews, including foremen, operators, and laborers, promoting a strong safety culture.
* Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, drawings, and quality control standards for concrete placement, finishing, and curing.
* Monitor production rates, progress, and resource utilization to maintain project schedules and budgets.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other superintendents to resolve field issues and optimize construction processes.
* Implement and enforce all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
* Manage equipment utilization, maintenance, and allocation for concrete paving operations.
* Oversee material procurement, inventory, and quality control for concrete, aggregates, and other paving-related materials.
* Maintain accurate daily reports, including progress, safety observations, equipment hours, and manpower.
* Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
* Identify potential problems or delays and implement corrective actions.
Job Qualifications
* Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in concrete paving for heavy civil construction projects, with at least 3-5 years in a superintendent role.
* Proven expertise in various concrete paving techniques, including slipform paving for highways, runways, and other large-scale infrastructure.
* Strong understanding of concrete mix designs, testing, and quality control procedures.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage large construction crews.
* Thorough knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices (OSHA 10/30 certification preferred).
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in using construction management software and tools.
* Must be willing to travel and work on projects in various locations as required.
* Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
