The Role:

As Hygiene Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating daily hygiene and facilities activities, ensuring that all cleaning standards, food safety requirements, and site hygiene procedures are achieved and maintained. You will contribute to creating a safe, clean, audit-ready production environment by ensuring machinery, equipment, and factory areas are cleaned, maintained, and left in a safe and hazard-free condition.

As Hygiene Supervisor you will support operational excellence within the hygiene function, maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, productivity, and compliance across the site. You will liaise with departmental managers, respond to hygiene and facilities requirements, and support the Quality Manager in ensuring that hygiene standards are consistently delivered.

Your Duties :

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily hygiene and cleaning activities, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are consistently met.
  • Supervise the hygiene team to ensure the highest standards of visual and microbiological hygiene are maintained across all site areas.
  • Conduct full facilities checks in accordance with daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, including departmental equipment, machinery, and any additional areas requested.
  • Ensure hygiene standards are achieved, maintained, and documented in line with company procedures, food safety requirements, and audit expectations.
  • Report any issues to the Quality Manager that may compromise food safety, quality, hygiene standards, or health and safety.
  • Coordinate hygiene resources and staffing levels to cover absence, holidays, and operational requirements, escalating requirements to the Quality Manager for approval where needed.
  • Ensure sufficient stock levels of cleaning chemicals, hygiene supplies, and related materials are maintained.
  • Work operationally with the Hygiene Team, providing first-line support, guidance, and on-the-job training for new operatives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure hygiene, facilities, and operational requirements are met.
  • Send handovers, updates, and reports as required by the Quality Manager.
  • Monitor and complete KPI information on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure the site is audit ready at all times and support customer, regulatory, and internal audit requirements.
  • Ensure all hygiene, food safety, quality, health and safety procedures, and company terms and conditions are followed.
  • Carry out any other duties, within reason and capability, as determined by your Line Manager.

  • Previous experience in a hygiene, cleaning, food production, or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate, and support a team effectively.
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene, quality, and health and safety standards within a production environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to operational requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards.

Desired Criteris

  • Understanding of HACCP principles.
  • Experience supervising a hygiene or facilities team.
  • Experience within food production or FMCG environment.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative.
