A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Financial Crime to provide strategic leadership across its global network.


Reporting to the Risk & Compliance Partner, this newly created senior role will act as the firm’s principal specialist on AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud prevention and wider financial crime risk. The successful candidate will also serve as Deputy MLRO, working closely with the General Counsel/Global MLRO, Regional MLROs and senior stakeholders across the business.


You will lead and develop an international financial crime team, providing direction on KYC, client due diligence, sanctions and complex onboarding matters. You will act as the senior escalation point for high-risk clients and matters, including complex source of wealth and source of funds enquiries.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering the firm’s global financial crime strategy;
  • Leading and managing Compliance Managers, Risk & Compliance Officers and specialist financial crime professionals;
  • Overseeing complex AML, sanctions and financial crime escalations;
  • Developing and reviewing policies, procedures and controls;
  • Monitoring UK and international regulatory developments;
  • Supporting suspicious activity reporting and wider AML governance;
  • Leading regulatory engagement, audits and inspections;
  • Driving improvements in compliance technology, screening tools and onboarding processes;
  • Designing financial crime MI, KPIs and training programmes.


About You

You will have at least 10 years’ financial crime, AML and sanctions experience gained within a law firm environment. Strong knowledge of UK AML legislation, including the Money Laundering Regulations, POCA and the Bribery Act, is essential. xwzovoh
