My client is a well-known London borough serving a diverse community and delivering a wide range of essential public services. The organisation is currently going through a busy period of change and is strengthening its HR Business Partnering function to provide high-quality, consistent and commercially focused HR support across the council.

Reporting to the Director of HR, this is a broad and varied HR Business Partnering role that will require someone who can quickly build credibility, work at pace and provide pragmatic HR advice and support. You will work across both strategic and operational HR matters while helping to develop a collaborative and consistent approach across the newly developing HR Business Partnering team.

The Senior HR Business Partner position is an initial 6-month interim contract paying £450 per day, inside IR35. The organisation operates a hybrid working model, with an expectation of 2 days per week in the office in South-West London.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting the development and delivery of business cases from initial proposal through to implementation.
  • Building effective relationships with trade unions, including Unite, Unison and GMB, and supporting consultation and engagement activity.
  • Developing strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing coaching, challenge and pragmatic HR advice when required.
  • Reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure they remain effective, consistent and fit for purpose.
  • Providing advice and guidance to managers across a broad range of complex HR and employee relations matters.
  • Using workforce data and insight to identify trends, inform decision-making and support organisational priorities.
  • Supporting organisational change and working closely with leaders and managers to successfully implement people-related initiatives.
  • Contributing to the development of a collaborative and consistent HR Business Partnering service that delivers high-quality support across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced HR professional with a strong background in Business Partnering and extensive experience of working directly with trade unions. You will have a proven track record of operating confidently with senior stakeholders, managing complex HR matters and providing practical solutions within a fast-paced and complex organisation. Experience within local government or the wider public sector would be highly advantageous.

The organisation is particularly interested in individuals who are personable, approachable and collaborative, but who are equally comfortable challenging stakeholders when required. You will need to be someone who is happy to get stuck in, work across a wide variety of strategic and day-to-day HR matters and become an integral part of a new HR Business Partnering team. xwzovoh
