Job Description
- Develop and execute the organisation's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives, shaping long‑term growth and value creation.
- Lead and inspire a large, high‑performing finance function, fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture that motivates, mentors, and develops talent at all levels.
- Oversee all accounting and finance activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting that supports informed decision‑making.
- Provide clear, strategic insights and trusted counsel to the executive leadership team, translating complex financial data into actionable commercial recommendations.
- Champion a people‑first leadership approach, encouraging innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong sense of accountability and engagement across the team.
- Monitor and manage financial risks, ensuring robust controls and full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning financial plans with organisational priorities and evolving market conditions.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to optimise capital structure and manage liquidity effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Drive cost efficiency and performance improvement initiatives while maintaining high operational and service standards.
- Act as a key external ambassador, building strong relationships with auditors, investors, and financial institutions, and representing the organisation with credibility and influence.
The Successful Applicant
- Proven expertise in accounting and finance within the financial services industry, ideally from a consumer lending type of organisation with experience of having SMF2 responsibility.
- Experience of financial services is a must.
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, analysis, and risk management practices.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and corporate governance frameworks.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire teams.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
- A track record of successfully influencing and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
