Welding Engineer - Laser Welding
Location: Coleshill
Rate: Up to £40.00 per hour UMB PAYE
Salary equivalent: £61,000 - £64,000 Per Annum + Overtime
Contract: Temp-to-perm (6/12 Months)
Shift: Mornings and afternoons

The Shorterm group are currently recruiting a Welding Engineer with expertise in Laser Welding on behalf of a Midlands-based battery research and manufacturing facility.

The Technical Expert - Welding duties:

• Providing welding application advice for internal teams and senior management
• Providing expert technical support to engineering and welding queries/problems.
• Conduct and design weld tests and technology demonstrations, including evaluation of technical requirements, preparing and processing customer applications.
• Create and enhance welding parameters, and develop processes for various applications.
• Technical report writing and customer collaboration.
• Produce expert training for different welding processes to internal teams (such as MIG/PLASMA/Laser).
• On-site troubleshooting, diagnostics, and support for the service, repair, and development of welding equipment.
• Technology advancement of both equipment and supply chain.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- Experience in Laser processing, Laser marking or machining, Ultrasonic welding, spot welding, MIG welding, and ultrasonic wire bonding.
Skilled in analysis and investigation of weld defects.
- Educated to degree level (Bachelor's or Master's) in a relevant Engineering or Materials Science discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant practical experience.
- Must demonstrate experience of sound judgment with strong attention to detail and good organizational skills, having the ability to clearly prioritize work in a dynamic manufacturing development environment.
