CNC Recruitment are looking for a skilled and reliable Surface Coating Inspector to join our client in Yeovil.

Location: Yeovil
Salary: TBC
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday Friday 8am 5pm
Summary of Objectives
This role is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of coated components, ensuring compliance with aerospace and defence specifications, and supporting continuous improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment.
You will play a key role in maintaining quality assurance standards and supporting overall operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed visual and physical inspections of surface coatings
Ensure compliance with aerospace and defence standards
Use specialised equipment to measure coating thickness, adhesion, and finish quality
Inspect incoming components where required to verify quality and specification compliance
Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and coating requirements
Accurately record inspection results within ERP/MRP systems (e.g. TRICORN) and quality documentation
Identify, document, and report non-conformances
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
Work closely with production teams to resolve defects and improve processes
Ensure all inspection activities comply with internal quality systems and industry standards
Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory inspections
Maintain full traceability and accurate documentation of inspected components
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and environmental procedures
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying trends, defects, and process improvements
Provide informal guidance and support to junior inspectors or production staff (as required)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and quality focus
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong written and verbal xwzovoh communication skills
Competent in the use of inspection tools and measurement equipment
Adaptable in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Relevant experience in quality inspection within aerospace, defence, or high-precision manufacturing
Desirable:
Qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, or quality assurance
Personal Qualities
Highly organised and methodical
Professional and proactive approach
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
Flexible and responsive to business needs
