Transport Operations Manager

Operations Manager – Transport & Logistics Location: Colnbrook Salary: From £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience Contract: Full Time, Permanent Reporting to: Operations Director We are recruiting an experienced Operations Manager to join a well-established transport and logistics operation in Colnbrook. This is a hands-on leadership role within a busy 24/7 operation. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day performance, driver management, customer service and compliance, while helping to create a positive and professional working environment. A key part of the role is driver engagement. We’re looking for someone who will be visible within the operation, build strong relationships with drivers and lead with a fair, consistent and approachable management style. The Role * Lead the day-to-day transport operation and maintain service levels * Manage, support and develop drivers and operational team members * Build strong relationships with drivers through regular face-to-face engagement * Improve driver engagement, performance and retention * Manage performance concerns, probation reviews and development plans * Monitor schedules, orders and KPIs to identify and resolve issues * Maintain strong customer relationships and handle escalated queries * Improve operational efficiency, service and profitability * Ensure compliance with GDP, ADR and CAA requirements * Manage deviations, non-conformances and corrective actions * Maintain high standards of health, safety and security About You * Previous management experience within transport, freight or logistics * Strong knowledge of transport operations, vehicle compliance and driver management * Proven experience managing and developing drivers and operational teams * Confident handling difficult conversations and performance issues * Strong customer service and communication skills * Organised, commercially aware and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment * Good analytical and problem-solving skills * Confident using Microsoft Office * Flexible, proactive and willing to take ownership What's on Offer * Salary from £45,000 per annum * Company pension * Health and wellbeing programme * Free on-site parking * Canteen * Referral programme * Permanent position with genuine responsibility and scope to make an impact This is a great opportunity for an experienced Transport or Logistics Operations Manager looking for a hands-on leadership position where they can make a real difference to the team and operation.
