Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An established Building Services Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of projects across the commercial, residential, and education sectors.This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, developing client relationships, and mentoring junior engineers. You will lead schemes from concept through to completion, working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering innovative and sustainable building services solutions.ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design of building services projects across all RIBA stages.Design and specify HVAC, public health, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.Produce design calculations, technical specifications, reports, and feasibility studies.Coordinate with electrical engineers, architects, contractors, and other consultants.Attend client, design team, and site meetings as the lead mechanical representative.Manage project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation.Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers.Ensure all designs comply with current legislation, regulations, and industry standards.RequirementsDegree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).Proven experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.Strong project experience within commercial, residential, and education developments.Excellent technical knowledge of:Heating and cooling systems,Ventilation and air conditioning,Public health designHeat pump technologiesEnergy-efficient and low-carbon solutionsProficient with industry software such as Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, and Revit.Strong client-facing and communication skills.Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.Chartered status or working towards Chartership is desirable.Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
