About the role
Head Chef – Up to £45,000 per annual including tronc Steak and Company – Gloucester Road

As a Head Chef, you’ll lead the kitchen and take full responsibility for delivering high-quality food and a smooth operation. You’ll manage and inspire the kitchen team, plan menus, oversee stock and deliveries, and make sure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standard. You’ll also ensure the kitchen is well-organised, safe, and compliant with hygiene regulations, all while creating excellent dining experiences for guests.
Leadership & Mentoring: Lead, train, and inspire the kitchen team, supporting the development of CDPs, Commis Chefs, and other staff to achieve excellence.
Administration & Planning: Oversee team rotas, manage stock takes, complete food wastage reports, and ensure accurate kitchen records are maintained.
Quality Control: Menu Knowledge: To always ensure you are familiar with and adhere to all recipes and have the knowledge and ability to maintain and run all sections in the kitchen.
Food Safety & Hygiene: Enforce strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times.
Stock & Supplier Management : Manage stock levels and rotation, minimize wastage, and build strong relationships with suppliers to secure quality produce.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely, properly maintained, and promptly repaired when necessary.
Kitchen Standards: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment, upholding professional standards across all sections.
Reporting: All complaints, incidents, accidents and other irregularities to the General Manager and Operations Team.
Ensure that all kitchen sections are adequately staffed with chefs trained and qualified to work those sections.
Foster clear and effective communication within the kitchen team and with other departments to ensure smooth service.
Meetings and Training: Attend and contribute to management meetings, audits, and training sessions as required.
Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume restaurant
Experience in managing and leading a team of kitchen staff
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding kitchen environment
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
