SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary

SEN Teaching Assistant – Reception Location: NW10, North West London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only Role: 1:1 SEN Support A welcoming and supportive primary school based in NW10 is looking for a caring, patient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Reception team. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support to a child with additional needs, helping them to feel safe, included and confident within the classroom environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and wants to make a genuine difference to a child's learning, communication and development. About the Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: * Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Reception pupil * Support a child with Autism and ADHD * Support a child who is non-verbal, helping develop communication and engagement * Assist the pupil with accessing learning and participating in classroom activities * Adapt activities and approaches to meet the child's individual needs * Support communication, social development and independence * Use positive reinforcement to encourage positive behaviour and engagement * Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil * Help identify and respond appropriately to the child's individual needs and triggers * Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team * Follow individual targets, strategies and recommendations to support the pupil's development * Create a calm, safe and inclusive environment where the child feels supported What We're Looking For * Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable * Experience working with Autism and/or ADHD would be advantageous * Experience supporting non-verbal children would be beneficial * A patient, caring and nurturing approach * Strong communication and relationship-building skills * Ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour * Good understanding of individualised support and inclusive practice * A genuine passion for helping children develop and reach their potential * Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) What the School Offers * A welcoming and supportive primary school environment * The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child's development * Support from experienced teaching and SEN staff * A positive and inclusive school community * Valuable experience working within a Reception setting * Opportunity to develop your experience supporting children with additional needs This is a fantastic opportunity for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference within a Reception classroom.
