About the role
We are looking for experienced and dedicated SEN Tutors to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs across a range of locations throughout London.
This is an excellent opportunity for passionate tutors who want to make a genuine difference to the educational development, confidence and wellbeing of young people.
You will provide one-to-one and/or small-group tuition, tailored to each learner's individual needs, abilities and learning objectives.
The Role
As an SEN Tutor, you will:
* Deliver engaging, personalised tuition to children and young people with SEN.
* Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
* Support learners to develop their academic skills, confidence and independence.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
* Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools and other professionals where appropriate.
* Monitor and record pupil progress.
* Adapt teaching approaches according to the learner's needs and learning style.
* Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
* Support learners who may have gaps in their education or require additional educational support.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
* Experience providing tutoring, teaching, mentoring or educational support.
* A good understanding of Special Educational Needs and different learning requirements.
* The ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy and a positive approach.
* The ability to build strong professional relationships with children and young people.
* Good organisational and time-management skills.
* The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
* A professional and reliable approach.
Essential Safeguarding Requirements
Applicants must have an up-to-date Enhanced DBS check suitable for working with children and young people, as well as the right to work in the UK. Suitable references and employment/qualification checks will also be required. All tutors must demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Experience
Experience supporting learners with additional needs would be advantageous. This may include working with young people with Autism/ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties, complex learning needs or behavioural needs. Experience supporting learners with anxiety, barriers to education, gaps in education or school refusal would also be beneficial.
What We Offer
We offer £42.50–£45.00 per hour, with tutoring opportunities available across London and September starts. The role offers flexible tutoring opportunities, including one-to-one and small-group tuition, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people's lives. There are also ongoing opportunities for experienced SEN tutors.
