Producing service charge accounts for residential developments/block management.

Are you an experienced Service Charge Accountant looking to join a well-established boutique property management company where your expertise will be genuinely valued?

Our client is a respected independent property management company based in Hertfordshire, specialising in the management of residential developments/block management; they are looking to appoint an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join their close-knit team.

The successful candidate will be ACCA, CIMA or AAT qualified, or qualified by experience, and will have a minimum of five years’ relevant service charge accounting experience.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing and finalising year-end accounts, avoiding Section 20b exposure

Handling accruals, prepayments, and financial reconciliations monthly

Collaborating with property managers to ensure clean financial reporting

Producing reconciliations

Attending internal, client, and auditor meetings to finalise accounts

Analysing variances and reconciling data from prior or incoming managing agents (New Business)

Supporting budgeting and forecasting with insight on service charge performance

The successful candidate will have:

ACCA, CIMA or AAT qualification, or be qualified by experience.

A minimum of five years’ relevant service charge accounting experience.

A strong understanding of service charge accounting and RICS/TPI guidelines.

Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate financial information to strict deadlines.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
