Semh Teaching Assistant

A caring and inclusive specialist SEND school in Knowsley is looking to recruit a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position with the opportunity to secure a permanent role for the right candidate. You will provide consistent support, build strong, positive relationships, and help pupils to engage more confidently in their learning The Role • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups • Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using a calm and consistent approach • Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs The Ideal Candidate • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or within a SEND setting • Is confident in managing challenging behaviour in a patient and proactive manner • Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils Requirements • References covering the last 5 years • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
