H&S / CDM Business Development Lead (Remote)
About the role
H&S / CDM Business Development Lead
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 per annum (Fixed Salary)
Full-Time, Permanent | Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
Artisan Group is recruiting on behalf of a growing UK Health & Safety and CDM Principal Designer consultancy, working with clients across the construction, property and wider built environment sectors.
We are looking to appoint an experienced H&S / CDM Business Development Lead to take ownership of the company's commercial growth and help drive the business into its next stage of development.
This is a senior, autonomous business development role reporting directly to the Managing Director and Founder. As the company's first dedicated business development appointment, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead the commercial function, taking responsibility for the entire sales process from identifying new opportunities through to winning and developing long-term client relationships.
This is not a lead-generation or telesales position. We are looking for a proven business developer with an established industry network, the credibility to engage senior decision-makers and a demonstrable track record of personally winning new business.
You will be responsible for generating new business, developing strategic relationships and building a consistent pipeline of H&S and CDM consultancy opportunities.
Your focus will include proactive business development, targeted prospecting, networking and developing referral partnerships with key industry professionals, including contractors, developers, architects, quantity surveyors and project managers.
You will identify opportunities across construction and the built environment, healthcare, energy, utilities, infrastructure, data centres and facilities management.
A key part of the role will be developing existing client relationships and converting individual project appointments into longer-term, retained consultancy arrangements, helping establish predictable recurring revenue for the business.
You will manage the complete commercial process, including client engagement, qualification, proposals, negotiations and closing appointments, while maintaining an accurate and commercially focused sales pipeline.
About You
To be successful, you will have a proven track record of winning new business within UK construction, healthcare, energy, infrastructure or professional services.
You will bring an established and active professional network that you can confidently leverage from day one, alongside experience engaging senior decision-makers such as Managing Directors, Construction Directors, Heads of Estates and Health & Safety Directors.
You will have a good working understanding of Health & Safety and CDM, enabling you to hold credible commercial conversations and understand client requirements.
Experience selling H&S or CDM consultancy services, knowledge of the CDM Regulations and Building Safety Act, or existing relationships with UK contractors, developers and other relevant industry professionals would be highly advantageous.
NEBOSH, IOSH or a relevant construction or Health & Safety qualification would also be beneficial.
Above all, you will be commercially driven, consultative and persistent, with the confidence to work independently and take accountability for delivering new revenue.
The Package
* £65,000 – £70,000 fixed annual salary, depending on experience and proven track record.
* Full-time, permanent position with a six-month probationary period.
* 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
* Employer-funded private medical cover from day one.
* Workplace pension with employer contributions.
* Flexible remote / hybrid working, with UK client meetings as required.
* Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
The salary is fixed, with no commission structure. A discretionary bonus review will take place after 12 months, based on agreed targets and company performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established business developer who wants genuine ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible impact.
You will be joining a technically established consultancy with an existing reputation and strong market positioning, giving you the platform to develop new client relationships, build recurring revenue and play a central role in the company's future growth
