About the role

HR Assistant (Temporary Maternity Cover - 12 Months)

Location: Newry
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum
Working Pattern: 4-Day Working Week (choice of Tuesday or Wednesday off)
Hours: 8:00am - 5:30pm

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Assistant to join a busy and supportive HR team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

The successful candidate will support the HR Manager across a range of HR activities, helping to deliver an efficient and professional HR service while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and review of HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide HR support throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, attendance management, performance management and employee engagement.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, databases and personnel files.
  • Ensure confidentiality and GDPR compliance at all times.
  • Assist with payroll administration and employee timekeeping records.
  • Support the handling of employee queries, disciplinary matters and grievances.
  • Coordinate training and development activities.
  • Assist with HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build positive working relationships across the business.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an HR Assistant or HR Support role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Excellent administration, organisation and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels.
  • Flexibility to travel between company locations when required.

Desirable Criteria

  • CIPD qualified or currently working towards a CIPD qualification.
