AML & MLRO Manager

BettingJobs is working with a fast-growing UK-licensed betting operator to appoint an AML & MLRO Manager. This is a senior compliance appointment with primary ownership of the AML and financial crime framework, alongside Safer Gambling and wider regulatory compliance, reporting into senior management.

The role is hands-on and genuinely broad. You will review what is currently in place, identify where it can be strengthened and take full ownership of policies, procedures and day-to-day practice — acting as the designated MLRO and the internal escalation point for financial crime matters. It will suit an experienced compliance professional who wants real autonomy in a growing operator and is comfortable being both strategic and operational.

Responsibilities:

• Own and develop the AML and financial crime compliance framework, ensuring alignment with UKGC requirements, legislation and industry guidance
• Conduct a full review of existing AML policies, procedures and controls and drive improvements
• Oversee customer risk assessment, CDD, EDD, Source of Funds and Source of Wealth procedures
• Provide guidance on higher-risk customers, unusual activity and complex cases
• Act as designated MLRO — assessing internal reports, submitting SARs to the National Crime Agency and maintaining investigation records
• Report to senior management on AML risks, cases, trends and control effectiveness
• Maintain and develop the business-wide money laundering and terrorist financing risk assessment
• Review Safer Gambling policies, customer interaction triggers, account restrictions and escalation procedures
• Advise operational teams on complex Safer Gambling cases and ensure decisions are documented and auditable
• Monitor regulatory developments, support regulatory submissions and information requests, and prepare the business for compliance assessments
• Deliver AML, Safer Gambling and regulatory training, embedding a strong compliance culture

Requirements:

• Strong experience within UK-regulated online gambling, ideally sportsbook
• Detailed xwzovoh knowledge of UK Gambling Commission requirements and the LCCP
• Significant practical experience of AML, CDD, EDD, SOF and SOW assessments
• Strong understanding of Safer Gambling and customer interaction obligations
• Experience handling complex and higher-risk customer cases
• Excellent written skills, with the ability to produce clear policies, risk assessments and regulatory documentation
• Confidence to work independently and challenge or advise senior stakeholders
• Highly desirable: previous MLRO or Deputy MLRO experience with a UKGC-licensed operator, direct engagement with the Gambling Commission, experience of compliance assessments, and relevant AML or financial crime qualifications
