SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Chaldon, SurreySalary: £13.51 - £14.45 per hourContract: Permanent, Full-Time (Term Time Only)Welcome Bonus: £1,000*
About the Role
Reed Education are working with a SEND Secondary school in Chaldon, Surrey to recruit Teaching Assistants to support young people aged 11-16 with social communication needs, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism.
The school’s approach is centred around small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
We are looking for creative, proactive individuals who can think outside the box and bring learning to life in a meaningful and engaging way.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum and play a vital role in nurturing pupils’ confidence, independence and personal growth. You will:
- Help young people recognise their strengths, build self-belief and celebrate their individuality
- Support pupils to overcome barriers and achieve more than they thought possible
- Inspire resilience and curiosity, ensuring pupils feel motivated, valued and supported
- Celebrate small steps pupils take towards their academic and personal goals
- Support learning beyond the classroom, including community-based activities
- Be flexible in your approach, supporting where needed to achieve the best outcomes for pupils
Skills & Qualifications
You do not need extensive experience to be successful in this role. If you have the right mindset, values and commitment, full training and support will be provided.
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- The ability to motivate and inspire children to believe in themselves
- GCSE Maths and English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2)
- A proactive, can-do attitude with creative problem-solving skills
- Willingness to engage in excellent, fully funded training opportunities (e.g. Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools)
- Ability to promote independence, positive behaviour and personal development
- A flexible, creative approach to meeting individual learning needs
