Peripatetic Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant - Temp-to-Perm Location: Chapel-en-le-Frith / High Peak Area Start Date: ASAP Contract: Temporary to Permanent Opportunity Hours: Full-Time, 5 Days per Week - 37 Hours, Term Time Pay: Competitive rate, paid weekly via our in-house PAYE payroll Mileage: 45p per mile for travel between sites Premier Education is working with a specialist education setting in the Chapel-en-le-Frith area seeking an experienced Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for someone experienced in supporting young people with challenging behaviour, additional needs, or those who have become disengaged from mainstream education. The role is varied and involves working with pupils aged 11-16 who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education and are following individual education pathways. Much of the work will take place off-site on a 1:1 basis, including supporting pupils in their homes and other appropriate community settings. As the role involves travelling between different locations and occasionally transporting pupils, a full UK driving licence, access to your own car and appropriate business insurance are essential. Mileage between sites will be paid at 45p per mile. The Role: Providing 1:1 educational support to young people outside a traditional classroom environment Supporting pupils in their homes and other appropriate community settings Delivering and supporting Maths, English and personal development work Helping pupils develop their literacy and numeracy skills Building positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, learning difficulties and complex needs Helping young people improve their confidence, independence and engagement with education Monitoring pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement Maintaining accurate pupil records and contributing to assessments Working closely with families, pastoral teams, safeguarding staff and other professionals Carrying out safe and well visits where attendance is a concern Supporting pupils when visiting alternative provisions or new schools as part of reintegration Managing your own timetable and caseload effectively Travelling between different education sites, homes and community settings as required Candidate Requirements: Previous experience working with young people in a UK education setting is essential Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and/or complex needs Confidence working independently with pupils on a 1:1 basis Ability to support Maths and English at Entry Level, Functional Skills or lower GCSE level Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection Patient, resilient, approachable and able to build positive relationships with young people and their families Excellent communication and organisational skills Comfortable with lone and peripatetic working Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential Business insurance is required Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people What's on Offer: Full-time role - 5 days per week Temp-to-perm opportunity 37 hours per week during term time 45p per mile mileage allowance for travelling between sites Varied role working with young people on individual education pathways Opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who have struggled within mainstream education Competitive rates of pay Weekly pay through our in-house PAYE payroll while working through Premier Education Ongoing support from a dedicated Premier Education consultant Opportunity to move into a permanent position with the settingPremier Education is a trusted education recruitment agency, proudly supporting schools and educators across the North of England since 2001.
