Payroll Advisor - 12 Month FTC
About the role
Are you a Payroll Administrator, Officer or Advisor looking to broaden your experience within a friendly, collaborative team?
Would you enjoy the variety of supporting UK and international payroll, with experienced colleagues around you and opportunities to contribute your ideas?
Tech Talent House is partnering with a global professional services organisation to find a Payroll Advisor for its Global Payroll Shared Service Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Having worked with this team previously, we know the people and working environment are a real selling point. You’ll join approachable colleagues who share knowledge, support one another and take pride in delivering a great payroll service.
The opportunity
You’ll support end-to-end monthly payroll across multiple countries, working with both in-house payrolls and external providers.
The shared service supports the UK, India, the Middle East and Africa, with further countries expected to join as the service develops. This offers an opportunity to build on your existing payroll knowledge and gain broader international exposure.
You don’t need experience of every country payroll. Strong hands-on payroll processing skills, good Excel knowledge and a willingness to learn are the priorities.
What you’ll be doing
• Processing starters, leavers, contractual changes, one-off payments and other payroll adjustments.
• Managing statutory payments and absence updates, including maternity, shared parental leave and sickness.
• Checking payroll data, investigating discrepancies and ensuring accurate monthly processing.
• Supporting shadow payroll activity and tax uploads.
• Preparing payroll journals and completing account reconciliations.
• Processing third-party payments and resolving employee payroll queries.
• Working closely with colleagues and outsourced providers to meet deadlines and compliance requirements.
• Helping document, review and improve payroll procedures.
What we’re looking for
• Strong payroll processing experience, ideally within an in-house or industry environment.
• A sound understanding of payroll legislation, statutory payments and monthly payroll processes.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and a helpful, approachable manner.
• Someone who enjoys collaborating and contributing to a team.
Shared services, international or multi-currency payroll experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.
What’s on offer?
• Up to £31,500 per annum + Bonus.
• 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
• Hybrid working, with 3 days per week onsite in Newcastle upon Tyne.
• A friendly, collaborative team.
• Varied work with exposure to UK and international payroll.
• Opportunities to contribute to process improvements as the service grows.
• A wider benefits package including private medical insurance, life assurance and flexible benefits.
