Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Derby Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 Package: Company car allowance, pension contribution, 25 holidays plus bank holidays, 2 week Christmas break, comapny phone, company laptop, flexitime offered. Sector: Civil Engineering We’re looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Derby-based civil engineering client. This role is ideal for those who are still in the process of achieving their degree, or those who are freshly qualified. The business works across groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete and external works projects, so you’ll be supporting a varied mix of schemes rather than being tied to one type of work. The projects our clients work on vary from £100k - £5m value. The role will be split between the office and project sites. Standard hours are 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. What we’re looking for * Freshly qualified or working towards a quantity surveying degree * Some knowledge of civil engineering would be of benefit * Knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts would be of benefit * Some experience with valuations, variations, cost reporting and subcontractor accounts would be of benefit * Confident working across both office and site environments * Full UK driving licence What you’ll be doing * Commercially supporting civil engineering projects from start through to final account * Preparing valuations and applications for payment * Managing variations and compensation events * Monitoring project costs, forecasts and margins * Managing subcontractor packages and accounts * Working closely with site teams, project managers and clients * Supporting projects across groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete and external works You’ll be based from the Derby office with regular travel to sites as required.
