GeneralJob description and person specificationJob Title: Lead Capital ActuaryDivision: FinanceReports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chartKey Relationships: Members of Actuarial, Finance, and Underwriting teamsJob Summary: To be responsible for the development, maintenance and use of components of the Group’s regulatory capital model, supporting regulatory capital submissions, business planning and internal model use.Key Responsibilities:Own and be accountable for modules of the internal capital model, including methodology, implementation, documentation and controls.Oversee and review the work of other team members across the capital modelling team, providing guidance, challenge and support on model areas as required.Produce and validate model outputs for use in regulatory capital calculations and submissions, including SCR and supporting analysisSupport the preparation of regulatory capital submissions, validation reporting and responses to regulatory queriesContribute to internal model change and validation activity and model enhancementsUse capital model outputs to support:               o Business planning processes               o Risk appetite processes               o Ad-hoc analysis for underwriting and management decisionsWork collaboratively across the capital modelling team and support on other model areas as requiredEnsure work complies with internal governance, documentation standards and Solvency II requirementsOther Responsibilities:Develop a understanding of the business and risk profile to enhance the quality and relevance of capital analysisDrive continuous improvement in modelling, validation and reporting processesEnsure compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirementsGeneralAt Beazley we are committed to doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management.Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.Personal Specification:Education and QualificationsUniversity degree, post-graduate preferred, in a quantitative or analytical disciplinePart qualified actuary or willing to undertake the actuarial examsSkills and AbilitiesStrong modelling skillsAble to communicate effectively with internal staff and regulators, both verbally and in writingTeam worker as well as able to work on own initiativeGeneral commercial and financial knowledgeThe ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritiseStrong Programming skills with exposure to MS Excel 2007, MS Access 2007, and VBAUnderstanding of statistical concepts and exposure to using statistical software with an ability to learn new technologies quicklyKnowledge and ExperienceProfessional work experience; exposure to insurance industry advantageousData analysis and researchAptitude and DispositionOutcome focussed, flexible and enthusiasticInterested in helping and educating othersProfessional approachKeen to interact with various departments in the groupCompetenciesUsing databases (familiarity with SQL)Programming skills (VBA preferred)Information seekingSelf starterWillingness to learnAnalytical thinkingProblem solverTeam workInitiativeIntegrityAccuracy
