SEN Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs School – Chester


Salary: £110 + per day, paid weekly

Contract: Full-time and flexible options


Hirecracker Education are working with a Special Educational Needs School in Chester supporting children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), autism, and complex care needs.


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team, providing personalised support to pupils to help them access learning, develop independence, and thrive in a safe and structured environment.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, autism, and complex care needs in the classroom, tailoring approaches to individual sensory, communication, and learning requirements
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, behavioural, and health needs using positive reinforcement and consistent strategies
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive peer interactions through tailored support
  • Helping maintain a calm, safe, and structured classroom environment that promotes focus, engagement, and inclusion


Requirements:


  • Experience supporting children with SLD, PMLD, autism, or complex care needs in school, care, mental health, social care, therapeutic, community settings or other relevant fields
  • Understanding of personalised learning approaches and complex care requirements
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with complex needs
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt approaches to individual pupils
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
