About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing SHEQ team, supporting major construction and infrastructure projects across the region.

The successful candidate will provide senior-level health and safety advice, support project teams and help drive a strong, proactive safety culture.


Previous experience working in the water sector is desirable for this role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert H&S advice to project and SHEQ teams.
  • Support the implementation of policies, procedures, risk controls and management systems.
  • Lead and support audits, inspections and SHEQ assurance activities.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • Work closely with project teams and clients to identify and manage risks.
  • Monitor performance data, identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support compliance with UK H&S legislation, CDM and relevant HSE guidance.
  • Promote continuous improvement and sustainable ways of working.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to colleagues at all levels.


Essential:

  • Significant H&S experience within the construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Good understanding of HSE guidance and construction best practice.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent occupational safety qualification.
  • Construction-related H&S qualification.
  • Appropriate professional H&S membership.
  • Willingness to travel across regional project sites.


Desirable:

  • Water, utilities or infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 or similar management systems.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
  • CSCS card and full UK driving licence.
  • Chartered/Certified IOSH membership.
  • Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills.
