About the role
The Academic Head oversees curriculum development, instructional strategies, assessment procedures, and staff development initiatives to ensure the academic success and holistic development of students.
Curriculum Development and Implementation- Lead the design, review, and implementation of a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that aligns with educational standards, school mission, and student needs.
- Foster interdisciplinary connections and integrate innovative teaching methodologies, technologies, and educational resources into the curriculum.
- Ensure coherence and continuity in curriculum delivery across all grade levels and subject areas.
- Provide visionary leadership and support to faculty members in implementing effective instructional practices that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and academic growth.
- Foster a culture of professional growth and collaboration among educators through mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct regular classroom observations, provide feedback, and facilitate reflective practices to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure student progress, identify learning gaps, and inform instructional decision-making.
- Analyze assessment data to track student achievement, monitor trends, and make data-driven adjustments to curriculum and instruction.
- Ensure that assessment practices are fair, valid, and aligned with learning objectives and standards.
- Collaborate with guidance counselors, special educators, and support staff to provide comprehensive student support services that address academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Implement programs and initiatives to promote student well-being, positive behavior, and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Respond to student concerns, academic challenges, and disciplinary issues with empathy, discretion, and appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with the school leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans, goals, and policies that advance the school's mission and vision.
- Manage academic budgets, resources, and facilities to support the delivery of high-quality education.
- Ensure compliance with educational regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in curriculum and instruction.
Education Required: B.Sc./H.N.D.
