Summary3***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY***We need a skilled project officer to help deliver an ambitious project to reverse the fortunes of 10 rare and threatened heathland plant and invertebrate species. The project is part of the Natural England funded Species Recovery Programme; it is led by the National Trust Purbeck team but you’ll also be working with partner organisations and heathland sites from across the Purbeck Heaths National Nature Reserve. What it's like to work here3The Isle of Purbeck, famed for the Jurassic Coast as well as its heathlands, beaches and castle, is one of the UK’s most biodiverse places and a flagship for landscape scale nature recovery. For more information about our property please visit  and Home - Purbeck HeathsWhat you'll be doing3As a member of the Purbeck Restore Nature team, you will be working alongside rangers, ecologists and other NT staff as well as conservation partner organisations who make up the Purbeck Heaths NNR partnership. You will be responsible for delivery of the habitat interventions of the Heathland Specialists Species Recovery Project, designed to restore populations and improve connectivity for ten rare and threatened heathland plants and invertebrates, with wider benefits for many more species. A large portion of your work will involve liaising with colleagues and specialists to design habitat interventions and then procure and manage contractors to undertake the works. You’ll often be working independently, outdoors in all conditions, in some hard to access places.You will also be supporting colleagues and volunteers from the Purbeck Natural History Forum on species monitoring programmes.You will work within the NTs project management framework, and regularly report back internally and to funders, including keeping accurate records to help support grant claims. Who we're looking for3You’ve a good understanding of heathland ecology and are passionate about nature recovery.  You have experience of procuring and managing contractors in a nature conservation setting. You have experience of managing or working on grant-funded projects.   You’re an organised multi-tasker, self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines with limited supervision, without losing an eye for the details.  You’re an excellent team player, working alongside colleagues, volunteers and managing external relationships; sharing knowledge and information and keen to learn from others.  You’ll be professional in your approach and a confident advocate for the National Trust when engaging, influencing and communicating with people of all ages and backgrounds.   Technology and PC literate, using MS and other software packages. The package3The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
