Job Title: Number 1 Site Manager Fit Out Location: Chelmsford, Essex Project Value: circa £500k Duration: 5 weeks Start Date: May / June 2026 Sector: Design and Build Fit Out The Company A reputable and well established Design and Build fit out contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across the commercial sector is seeking an experienced No.1 Site Manager to lead a fast paced fit out project in Chelmsford. The Role You will take full responsibility as the No.1 Site Manager on a c.£500k fit out scheme, delivering the project from site setup through to completion within a 5 week programme. This is a hands on role requiring strong leadership, organisation and the ability to drive trades to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee day to day site operations and manage the full site team Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and trades Ensure works are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards Maintain and enforce health and safety procedures and site compliance Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular safety inspections Monitor programme progress and proactively address delays or issues Liaise with clients, consultants and internal project teams Manage site documentation including RAMS, permits and progress reports Ensure quality control and snagging processes are carried out effectively Oversee logistics, materials and site organisation Drive a clean, efficient and well run site environmentRequirements Proven experience as a Number 1 Site Manager on fit out projects Strong track record delivering fast track commercial fit outs SMSTS, CSCS Card and First Aid certifications essential Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Strong organisational and problem solving abilitiesWhat's on Offer Competitive day rate depending on experience Opportunity to work with a respected Design and Build contractor Potential for future projects based on performance
