SEND / SEMH Teacher
About the role
Location: Lincolnshire
Salary: up to £44k
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only, Full Time, 40 hours per week
We are recruiting for two SEND Teachers to join a small specialist school in Lincolnshire supporting pupils with a range of SEND, SEMH and additional needs.
The school provides a highly nurturing and individualised learning environment for pupils who may have found mainstream education challenging. Class sizes are exceptionally small, typically operating on a model of around 4 pupils supported by 2 adults, allowing teachers to build strong relationships and tailor learning around individual needs.
We are looking for:
KS1-KS2 SEND Teacher - delivering learning at KS1-KS2 level to pupils of varied ages and abilities.
KS3 SEND Teacher - a strong generalist teacher who is confident delivering a range of subjects across the curriculum. You will:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
Teach very small groups and provide individualised learning where required.
Adapt teaching to pupils working at a range of academic levels.
Support pupils to develop their confidence, independence and engagement with education.
Create a safe, consistent and nurturing classroom environment.
Manage behaviour positively, taking individual needs and experiences into account.
Assess progress and maintain appropriate records and reports.
Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral colleagues and the wider school team.
Communicate effectively with parents, carers and other professionals. We are particularly interested in teachers who:
Hold QTS or QTLS.
Have at least 2 years' experience within SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or a similar specialist environment.
Have a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
Are confident differentiating learning for pupils working at different academic levels.
Can build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced challenges or disruption in their education.
Have strong behaviour-management and classroom-management skills.
Are resilient, patient and adaptable. For the KS1-KS2 vacancy, primary teaching experience and the ability to deliver a broad KS1-KS2 curriculum would be particularly relevant.
For the KS3 vacancy, we are looking for a confident SEND generalist who can teach across a range of subjects. A vocational specialism is not required.
What's on offer
Very small class sizes and high levels of classroom support.
A specialist SEND/SEMH environment.
Fully funded training and professional development.
Enhanced pension scheme.
Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
Employee wellbeing and discount benefits.
Life assurance.
The opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who need a more individualised approach to education. Safeguarding: The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and relevant safer recruitment checks
